Doi artiști din generaţii diferite, Elton John şi Ed Sheeran, au scris şi interpretat împreună un cântec de Crăciun cu care și-au propus să cucerească topurile. În final, cei doi muzicieni au reușit să domine toate topurile sezonului. Ed Sheeran şi Elton John au încheiat anul 2021 pe primul loc în topul britanic al single-urilor cu piesa „Merry Christmas”.

Cântecul de Crăciun a petrecut în total trei săptămâni, neconsecutiv, în fruntea clasamentului. În

ultima săptămână din anul 2021, „ Merry Christmas ” a înlocuit versiunea sa cântată de LadBaby cu Sheeran şi John, „Sausage Rolls For Everyone”.
